2007 Battle Mountain Raceway Pro-Stock Rules

1. BATTERY:

A. Must be completely enclosed within a marine type plastic or steel box with an absorbent material

covering top of battery (not required if gel type battery).

B. Battery must be fastened to the floor or frame.

C. All cars must have battery disconnect switch on positive cable.

D. Disconnect switch must be marked in a bright contrasting color.

E. Switch must be accessible to track officials behind the drivers shoulder.

2. BODY:

A. Body must be steel.

B. After market bodies allowed (steel only), no wedge bodies.

C. Roof, nose, and tail maybe any material (plastic, fiberglass, etc.).

D. Body must be complete and replicate OE.

E. Spoilers allowed with maximum 5 inch vertical height. No wrap around spoilers or side plates.

F. Removal of all glass required.

G. Firewall must be in stock location (maybe cut for engine clearance).

H. Hood and trunk springs must be removed, lids secured with pins only.

I. All holes in driver compartment floor and front and rear firewall must be plugged or covered with

sheet metal.

J. No mirrors allowed.

K. No radios allowed.

L. Must have tow hooks or chain loop on each end of car.

M. Must have racing approved window net with quick release at top.

N. Bumpers must be mounted outside of any reinforcement.

O. Ends of rear bumper must be strapped to fenders.

P. A mandatory protective screen must be installed. Screen must cover the full windshield opening,

must be securely fastened, center vertical support mandatory. Screen to be of maximum ½” square

openings.

3. BRAKES:

A. Required on all 4 wheels and in working order at all times.

B. Proportioning valve ok (must be able to stop each tire).

4. CAR APPEARANCE:

A. Must be painted (no primer).

B. 18” numbers on each side of car and on roof.

C. Roof numbers read from right side of car.

D. No more than 3 numbers or number/letter combinations.

E. No fractional numbers.

F. Numbers must be contracting colors to the car or outlined.

G. Must have 4” front and rear numbers

5. CARBURETORS:

A. Single Carb only ( max 800 CFM)

B. No exotic cars, (Predator, Dominator, etc).

C. No fuel injection or water injection.

D. No turbo chargers or super chargers.

E. No nitrous oxide.

F. Carburetor spacer or adapter allowed (1” maximum).

G. Two (2) throttle return springs required.

6. ENGINES:

A. Must be same make as frame and suspension.

B. Forward most spark plug no further back than center of upper ball joints.

C. Cast iron blocks and heads only (no aluminum).

D. Single or dual plane intakes allowed (maybe cast iron or aluminum).

E. Must use factory motor mount brackets; no engine plates.

F. Solid motor mounts recommended.

G. Roller tip rockers ok (no full roller system).

H. Solid or hydraulic cams ok (No roller cams).

I. No dry sump oiling systems.

J. Electronic ignition ok (No magnetos).

7. EXHAUST:

A. Tube steel headers allowed (No 180* or zoomies).

B. Must exit under car behind driver.

C. Mufflers required.

8. FRAME:

A. Sub-frame connectors ok on unibody cars.

B. Frame must be same corporate line as body (ie: GM-GM, Ford-Ford, etc.).

9. FUEL:

A. Gasoline only (NO ALCOHOL).

B. Racing gas, fuel additives ok.

C. Electric fuel pumps allowed. Must be equipped with both oil pressure switch and manual power

switch.

D. Fuel cells mandatory. Must have positive seal and roll over vent check valve.

E. Fuel cell and containers may extend below the trunk floor. Cells must be contained in a fully

enclosed box made of minimum 20 gauge steel.

F. Fuel cell must be securely fastened to frame or floor pan.

G. All fuel lines must run under car or be encased in conduit.

H. Must have minimum of a 2-1/2lb. Fire extinguisher securely fastened within reach of the driver.

10. RADIATORS:

A. Maybe relocated.

B. Minor radiator protection is allowed must be same material or lighter than roll cage.

11. ROLL CAGE:

A. Minimum 6-point roll cage.

B. 13/4” diameter tube with .095” wall minimum.

C. Must completely enclose driver.

D. Minimum of 3 door bars on driver’s side and 2 door bars on passenger side.

E. Must have X brace behind driver.

F. All bars within driver reach must be padded.

G. Roll cage construction must not impede driver’s ability to exit car from either side of car.

H. Roll cage must have a vertical bar in front windshield.

I. Roll cage must be secure to the frame (or floor pan on unibody cars) by welding solidly around

each upright bar, or by welding each upright bar solidly to a 6 X 6 X 1/4 plate and then bolting this

plate to the frame (or floor pan on unibody cars) by a minimum of (4) 3/8” bolts per plate. (Note: If

bolted to the floor pan it must be sandwiched between 2 plates).

J. All welded angles must have gussets.

K. Either tubing or black pipe maybe used. No galvanized pipe or pipe fittings allowed.

L. One (1) nerf bar per side allowed, not to extend more than 3” from side of car to outside of bar.

Ends must be bent in to prevent catching.

12. SEATS:

A. Must be bolted or welded to the roll cage only.

B. High back seat or headrest is required.

C. Roll cage must support seat back or headrest.

D. All seats must have steel frames.

E. Driver must sit within one (1) foot of original position and can not be sitting atop driveline.

F. Minimum 5-point racing harness required.

13. STEERING:

A. Steering quickeners allowed.

B. Quick release steering wheel recommended.

C. A pad at least 2” think and 4” diameter must cover steering wheel hub.

D. May use heim joints.

14. SUSPENSION:

A. Front and rear suspension and frame must match and be complete.

B. Sub-frame connectors maybe used, must retain complete stock front and rear suspension.

C. Suspension must be OEM, but attaching points maybe modified and heim joints used on pan-hard

bars and shock absorbers.

D. Suspension mounting points maybe changed as long as factory components are not modified.

E. Front spindles, rotors, and calipers must be OEM and same make as the frame.

F. Racing shock absorbers can be used and mounts moved but coil-over shocks are not allowed.

G. Suspension bushings must be OEM size.

H. Lower control arms must be OEM.

I. Upper control arms maybe OEM or aftermarket tubular.

J. Weight jacks are allowed.

K. Rear axels maybe full floating.

L. No cambered axels, no light weight axels (aluminum, etc.)/ No quick change rear gears.

M. Rear axel does not have to match cars corporate line (Ford-GM ok).

15. TIRES:

A. Towel City red dot retreaded tires allowed.

B. Retread racing tires with minimum 45 durometer allowed.

C. Stock tires will be allowed with DOT tread wear rating and minimum 45 durometer.

D. NO Hoosier, McCreary, etc., except with approved retread on casing.

E. Grooving and siping allowed.

F. Bleeder valves allowed.

G. Mud Flaps required on rear of car, must be with in 2” of ground.

16. TRANSMISSION AND DRIVETRAIN:

A. No competition transmission allowed.

B. No Ram-type couplers allowed.

C. No aluminum flywheels allowed.

D. All automatic transmissions must retain functional torque converter.

E. 1” inspection hole required in bell-housing or dust cover to check flywheel.

F. 3/8” minimum thickness belting or blanket required on automatic transmissions.

G. 1/4” minimum thickness or SEMA approved scatter shield required on manual transmission.

H. Driveshaft must be painted white.

I. Must have driveshaft hoop, must be located 4-12 inches behind front u-joint, must be 1/4 X 1/2”

strap steel or better. Hoop must fully encircle driveshaft and be bolted or welded to the floor pan or

frame.

17. WEIGHT:

A. Minimum car weight is 3000lb. (with driver after main event).

B. Added or removable weight must:

1. be painted white

2. have car number on it

3. be in blocks no smaller than 5lb. (no milling balls).

4. be secured to the side or top of the frame with at least two (2) 1/2” grade 5 bolts.

18. WHEELBASE:

A. Minimum wheelbase is 107 inches.

19. WHEELS:

A. Up to 10” wheel allowed.

B. Steel wheels only.

C. Bead-lock allowed on right rear only.

D. 1” wheel spacers allowed (one per wheel).

E. Wheel studs must protrude from lug nuts.

F. Lug nuts must be 1” in diameter.
